Nurses honor exceptional service at fifth annual Nightingale awards

JACKSON, Miss. – Mississippi nurses honored their own Monday night at the fifth annual black tie Nightingale Awards Gala sponsored by the Mississippi Nurses Association and the Mississippi Nurses Foundation. More than 85 nurses across the state were nominated in 14 awards categories and three nurses were inducted into the prestigious MNA Hall of Fame for their career service to nursing.

Clarion Ledger Managing Editor Ronnie Agnew was emcee of the annual black-tie event that recorded more than 570 in attendance.

"The Nightingale Awards distinguish those men, women and organizations that have made a special effort to excel in the area of health care,” said Ricki Garrett, executive director of the Mississippi Nurses Association, co-host of the event. “Each year, the event gains in momentum with energy of the participants and the enthusiasm of our sponsors."
